My list goes something like this:
1. The Wegmans Pittsford supermarket. Perhaps the best in the world.
2. Sunset from the Charlotte pier an the shore of Lake Ontario.
3. International Museum of Photography at the George Eastman House.
4. Park Avenue sidewalk cafes.
5. The Erie Canal locks.
6. The Margaret Woodbury Strong Museum.
7. The Public Market.
8. The Memorial Art Gallery.
9. The Center at High Falls.
10. Don's chocolate almond custard.
What would you recommend to Rochester visitors?

Adding to Max's list:
General Interest:
1. High Falls--not just the centers; the east side observation deck by the laser mirrors and the new west-side patio are both interesting.
2. Laser Light Show--corny but fun for newbies to see once ... once.
3. Spot Coffee--it really was a Chevrolet dealership
4. Java's--a true Rochester classic coffee shop
5. Cobb's Hill Reservoir--neat view
6. Highland Park--preferably in bloom
7. Downtown library--I'm not much of a reader, so the "secret" garden in back of the new wing is pretty neat
8. Seabreeze Amusement Park--again, kinda corny but fun now and again.
9. City Hall--too bad it's only open on weekdays
10. Mt. Hope Cemetery--Victorian cemetery that's more like a park ... I believe it's the largest cemetery within city limits in America
If you're into the music scene:
1. East End Fest--maybe just once
2. Party in the Park--good bands for free
3. Bug Jar--a Rochester classic, known from afar
4. Bop Shop--also known by interested parties from afar
5. Freetime Magazine--the more accurate source of music and nightlife information
6. Water Street Music Hall and the Club at Water Street--on the path to future glory; nice place to see big stuff
7. Eastman Theater--real olde-time classical and concerts
(I didn't _forget_ Milestone's, it's just too overpriced and customer-hostile for me to recommend. It's gotta be a good band for me to set foot inside.)
What residents of the city already know:
1. Nick Tahou's--garbage plates, although lately I think Gitsis, Mark's on Monroe, and Little Venice make better plates
2. House of Guitars--at least know how to get there
3. Village Gate--quirky former industrial mall ... hopefully they'll (a) still exist for a while, and (b) repopulate with stores sometime soon.
4. California Rollin'--world class (although not _top_ of class necessarily) sushi and really original rolls and atmosphere
5. Seneca Park Zoo--what city's complete without a zoo...
6. Maplewood Gardens--more flowers and stuff
7. Erie Canal and the Canal Path--avoid singing the Erie Canal Song if you want anyone to stick around
8. Penny Arcade--like the HOG, must be seen to be believed
Ok, enough for now ...
