September 8 Green Party Monthly Meeting The monthly meeting for the Green Party of Monroe County will take place Monday, September 8th at 7pm. It will be held at the usual meeting place, 179 Atlantic Avenue. We will be working on the political campaigns of David Atias and Jason Crane as well as speaking with Patrick Domerantz about Green/Labor relations. September 9 Green Party Campaign Fundraiser The campaigns of David Atias (City School Board) and Jason Crane (City Council) will be holding a fundraiser at the Bug Jar, 219 Monroe Avenue. September 14 Christopher's Bear Parade In conjunction with September's National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, CURE Childhood Cancer Association and Christopher's Challenge of the Rochester Area Community Foundation, present the 4th annual Christopher's Bear Parade. Bring your teddy bear and walk in the Teddy Bear Parade at 2 p.m. Immediately following the parade, enjoy a performance by Gary the Happy Pirate. The first 250 children to register will receive a goodie bag. The parade and performance are FREE with regular paid zoo admission. Call (585) 336-7200 for more information. A bone marrow drive will take place in the Kodak ECO Center from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. All costs associated with testing will be covered by Christopher's Challenge. Crossbridge Financial Group and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Rochester have teamed up for the ultimate fundraising party of the year, O’ Chocolat! Over 25 restaurants, caterers, and bakeries will be featuring chocolate specialties and food items at Eagle Vale Country Club on September 18th 2003 to raise money for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Rochester. Participants can enjoy tasting samples of desserts, gourmet candies, dessert wines, specialty foods and gourmet coffees while enjoying live jazz entertainment. Participants can also browse and bid on items in the silent auction. All proceeds for O’Chocolat! go to benefit the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Rochester. September 21 Greyhound Planet Day Walkathon to Benefit the Morris Animal Foundation's Canine Cancer Research Fund Greyhound Adoption of Greater Rochester, NY presents the GREYHOUND PLANET DAY 2003 WALKATHON to benefit the Morris Animal Foundation’s Canine Cancer Research Fund Sunday, September 21st, 2003 (rain or shine) International Greyhound Planet Day will be celebrated by Greyhound adoption and rescue groups around the world on Sunday, September 21st, 2003. Greyhound Adoption of Greater Rochester, NY invites all Greyhound owners and their Greyhounds for a fun-filled social event to raise awareness about what great pets ex-racers make and to raise money for a wonderful cause. All pledge dollars raised at the Walkathon will be donated to the Morris Animal Foundation - a non- profit organization – for their Canine Cancer Research Fund. All donations are tax deductible. Registration and the start and end of the walk will take place in the Nazareth College Arts Center Parking Lot (4245 East Avenue, Pittsford). Registration will start at 12:30 P.M. and the walk will begin promptly at 1:00 P.M.- rain or shine. The walk route is 2 miles long. Participants who pre-register ($15.00 registration fee) before August 23 will receive a Greyhound Planet Day 2003 Walkathon t-shirt and a goodie bag at registration. The Walkathon will begin at the Nazareth College Arts Center Parking Lot where registration will take place. This lot is located near the South Entrance of Nazareth College. A meet and greet will be held for the public following the Walkathon.
