I'm a huge fan of Sonny's singing and writing as well as his slide playing." - Bonnie Raitt "nothing less than truly great. … He has a unique slant on slide-guitar playing, in that he has come up with some different tunings and ways of playing them that give him his own voice." - Warren Haynes "A bona fide guitar hero." --Entertainment Weekly "Wizardly fretblaster." –Billboard February 28 RoCo Art Recycling Sale Art lovers will have the opportunity to recycle works from their collections and purchase new pieces on Saturday, February 28th from 3-9 p.m. when the Rochester Contemporary (http:www.rochestercontemporary.org) hosts its first Art Recycling Sale at its new home on 137 East Avenue. The sale provides an outlet for people to sell work from their existing collections and find gems from other art lovers. For example, well-known local collectors Grant Holcomb, executive director of Memorial Art Gallery, and Richard Storms, owner of Record Archive, will have pieces from their collections available for sale. Sellers receive 65% of the purchase price with 35% being donated to the Rochester Contemporary (RoCo) to support programming for Rochester’s only non-profit arts center dedicated to fostering the creation and appreciation of contemporary art. The sale is open to the public at no charge. "There’s a lot of lonely art work out there waiting to be cherished and admired by new owners," says John Borek, sale organizer and RoCo board member. "We’re trying to make it really easy for art lovers to make some money, add to their collections and help out RoCo." Art will be accepted from collectors, artists and galleries and can be dropped off at RoCo on Saturday, February 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Contributors can arrange for a special pick-up by contacting John Borek at (585) 455-6921. |
