SCCA Road Rally
To HornELL AND BACK, SCCA organized Road Rally Two or more people, in ordinary cars, on regular roads, within the legal speed limit, make up a rally team. The goal is to drive on time (not early or late) and follow instructions. Each team needs a wristwatch set to match rally time; something to write on and write with. For night rallies a flashlight or other interior lights are needed to read instructions. Amateurs as well as experienced rallyists are welcome. A Novice class is held before each rally. Tracking the Groundhog at Wesley Hill
Groundhog Day Hike at the Wesley Hill Nature Preserve, Richmond, Ontario County. 1 pm Join expert tracker Angela Yeatman and discover the art of tracking. Using tracking guides and museum model prints, Yeatman, an environmental educator and naturalist, will teach us how to read prints, find patterns, and discover "stories in the snow". All ages. Bring skis or snowshoes. Meet at the Wenrich cabin, a short walk from the Wesley Road entrance to the preserve. The cabin will be open and heated, and hot beverages will be provided. Wesley Road is off Gulick Road in the town of Richmond. The Preserve entrance is about one mile from the intersection of Gulick Rd and Wesley Rd. Group 14621 Community Technology Center Open House
The Group 14621 Community Technology Center (CTC) will hold an Open House on Wednesday, February 5, 2003, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 1476 St. Paul St. The CTC concludes its pilot classes this week and is gearing up for another month of introductory-level classes starting the first week of February. Refreshments will be served, and attendees will have a chance to tour the facility, as well as speak to staff, volunteers and students about their involvement with the CTC. All are invited to come celebrate with the community, and learn more about the variety of educational and volunteer opportunities available at the CTC. Healthy Eaters Potluck
HEALTHY EATERS POTLUCK TO BE INAUGURAL EVENT FOR THE HEALTHY EATERS CLUB Rochester, NY -- A "Healthy Eaters Potluck," will be held Saturday, February 15, at the Rochester Friends Meeting House, 84 Scio Street, Rochester, beginning at 6 p.m. (doors open at 5 p.m.). The potluck is sponsored by The Healthy Eaters Club, a new Rochester area organization dedicated to helping people maintain healthy eating habits through social and educational activities. A donation of $5 or more ($2 for low income) is requested to cover the facility rental. Participants must also bring a dish to pass that has been approved by the potluck coordinator. There will be a structured program following the meal to brainstorm future events for the club. The potluck and the club are open to anyone committed to establishing and maintaining healthy eating habits. The club does not push any particular diet or eating lifestyle, but rather encourages individuals to inform themselves about nutrition and make decisions based on personal needs. The club's purpose is to help people connect healthy eating with pleasure, friendship, and a cheerful spirit. There are only two restrictions: no smoking will be allowed at events, and children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Meat eaters, vegetarians, and vegans are welcome. Every effort will be made to ensure that everyone will have appropriate choices. Membership is free. People who wish to participate in the potluck must register by February 11.
