A Brush with 25 Toothbrushes
A BRUSH WITH 25 TOOTHBRUSHES: an installation by Jared Valentine will be on view November 15, 2002 - January 18, 2003 in the RoCo Sibley Centre Window, 228 E. Main St. (facing the Liberty Pole). This installation is a Rochester Contemporary satellite exhibition. There will be an Artist Lecture (free and open to the public) Saturday November 16th, 12 noon at the Rochester Contemporary at 137 East Avenue. This installation is a collection of 25 pastel renderings of conceptual toothbrushes. Each design disregards the ‘form follows function’ equation and allows the viewer to consider today’s quest for that which is newer, bigger, and better. Along with the pastel renderings, textual imagery in the form of a video exhibition expresses the need of both consumers and creators to emotionally define themselves through objects they either desire or construct. Jared Valentine currently works as both an artist and designer in Rochester, NY. Recent works include studies in both product development and artforms based loosely on the Concrete Poets movement.

November 16

Artist Lecture
