- Potluck for Progressives: Monday, February 24th @ 5:30pm Downtown United Presbyterian Church 121 N. Fitzhugh Street Please bring a dish to pass and your own place setting. Action: Creating a Civil Liberties Safe Zone in Rochester Learn about the 44 cities, towns, and counties that have already passed resolutions to protect the civil liberties of their 5,566,084 residents from a gang of self-proclaimed "patriots" who demand we relinquish our rights. An action "tool kit" has been prepared so that we may begin work immediately -- before war in Iraq breaks out & the "Domestic Security Enhancement Act of 2003" (Patriot Act II) is shoved down our collective throats. Join us in action! You are not alone! +_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+ History of the Potluck for Progressives: The Potluck for Progressives, founded by the Rochester chapter of the Alliance for Democracy, has been bringing committed activists together to break bread & coordinate action on a regular basis for the past several years with the goal of building a large progressive coalition in Rochester. Members of the Potluck for Progressives have fostered a number of innovative initiatives to support their goal: The Annual Human Rights Day Vigil & Panel Discussion, the "Rochester" listserv, The Progressive Community Calendar Project, The Issues Mapping Project, and numerous other activities & actions. Activists who have a wide range of experience & who's concerns span the entire spectrum from environmental issues to social & economic justice find common ground in the dream of building a powerful local coalition here in our community. Every time we meet together we take another step towards our goal. Join us in action! You are not alone!
