- 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Getting the word out by e-mail Communicate with customers electronically and reduce costs while speeding up the cycle of communication. Learn how to create a simple database with any text editor and then use that database to create personalized email electronically. Use this technique to increase the likelihood of your emails being read and to increase the response rate. Empower your customers to sell for you using email. Learn a technique known as viral marketing multiply the effectiveness of an email message by dozens to thousands of times. Give your customers the opportunity to opt-in for emails and electronic newsletters. When they opt-in, give them value. Provide your customers useable content that they can use. Learn the pitfalls of abusing customers by sending unwanted emails. This course will not teach you how to create SPAM. This course is about electronic customer resource management (ECRM). Prerequisite This course is software specific. To use the content presented in this course, your business will need a computer, access to Microsoft™ Word, and Microsoft™ Outlook. Handouts A workbook summarizing the topics covered in class will be made available to students. Each student will receive a CD-ROM containing the workbook in electronic form as well as examples, templates, and links to Web-based resources mentioned in class. - Benefit Concert for Alternatives for Battered Women
- Alternative for Battered Women benefit concert, 6 - 11 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Water Street Music Hall, 204 N. Water Street, Downtown Rochester, off the innerloop. Featuring Tamara Marcella, Josie Waverly, Thistlewerk, the Young Irish Dancers, Downtown Marty Brown and the Turbomatics, D-I-G and special guest Ben Taylor, James Taylor and Carly Simons son. There will be silent auctions, raffles for lots of cool stuff as well as the grand prize, a trip for 2 to New York City which includes round trip tickets on JetBlue, 2 nights at the Hotel Beacon on Broadway, 2 tickets to see Vanessa Williams in "Into the Woods" and dinner at TGI Fridays on Broadway and 42nd Street. (does not include gratuities) There will also be a costume contest, but costumes are optional.
