MY FAIR LADY, a musical by Alan Jay Lerner & Frederick Loewe
Aquinas Institute of Rochester Theatre Department proudly presents MY FAIR LADY winner of 8 Academy Awards. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the film's release in 1964. MY FAIR LADY the musical is the winner of two 2003 Laurence Olivier Awards and three 2002 Olivier Awards, including Outstanding Musical. MY FAIR LADY was quite possibly the most popular musical of the 1950's, and came into being only after Hungarian film producer Gabriel Pascal devoted the last two years of his life to finding writers who would adamp George Bernard Shaw's 1914 play Pygmalion into a musical. Rejected by the likes of Rodgers and Hammerstein and Noel Coward, Pascal finally turned to the younger, but very talented duo of Frederick Loewe and Alan Jay Lerner. MY FAIR LADY opened at the Mark Hellinger Theatre on March 15, 1956 and enjoyed a run of 2717 performances that lasted more than nine years. MY FAIR LADY is a timeless classic to be enjoyed by the entire family.

"Great Lawns 2004" A program & discussion on creating mostly pesticide-free lawns.
WHAT: "Great Lawns 2004" A program & discussion on creating mostly pesticide-free lawns. WHEN: Thursday, March 18th, 7pm WHERE: Brighton Town Hall (2300 Elmwood Avenue) WHO: Rochester Regional Group of the Sierra Club in cooperation with Cornel Cooperative's Great Lawns/Great Lakes and Judy Braiman, president of Rochesterians Against the Misuse of Pesticides (RAMP). Other: FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC Great Lawns 2004 Join with the Sierra Club in an educational program on pest-management in lawn care, by the Cornel Cooperative's Great Lawns/Great Lakes. This program, which uses Integrated Pest Management techniques researched at Cornell University, is for residents who want to learn environmentally friendly lawn care practices that keep fertilizers and pesticides out of our waterways. Program participants learn about easy soil-testing, weed-free mowing, and practical, cost-saving lawn tips. Then, learn why the overuse of chemicals on your lawn is a bad idea from one of Rochester's most influential activists, Judy Braiman, president of Rochesterians Against the Misuse of Pesticides (RAMP). Judy will discus the health-related and environmental costs of using various chemicals and toxic fertilizers on your lawn. She will also include in her talk a law greatly influenced by RAMP, where Governor George Pataki signed a new law that minimizes human exposure to picnic tables and playground gyms that have been treated with arsenic. So, set aside this date and bring along your friends, neighbors, groups, and neighborhood associations and spruce up your lawns while protecting our environment.
